This meaningful project will highlight the remarkable legacy of Betsy Ross and her family by displaying flags sewn by Betsy Ross’s daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter. Of particular significance is the large and fragile Civil War–era flag made by Betsy Ross’s daughter, Clarissa Wilson. Due to its historical importance and delicate condition, this artifact requires a specialized, custom-built display case to ensure its preservation while it is on exhibit.
The Betsy Ross House is operated by Historic Philadelphia, Inc. (HPI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to making our nation’s history relevant, engaging, and accessible. Through storytelling, interactive experiences, and educational programming, HPI brings history to life across its sites, including the Betsy Ross House, Franklin Square, and Once Upon A Nation.
